Mastering automotive engineering to land that dream job

For reference, domain experts advise engineers to go for Fundamentals of Vehicle Dynamics at an initial level. Fundamentals of Vehicle Dynamics acts as a supplement to academic engineering textbooks across universities,” adds Satish Kumar.

At this juncture, it is also worth understanding that skills such as C, C++, Verilog are taught at the academic levels itself. To sharpen these skills, practical Do-It-Yourself (DIY) kits can be procured and used. Experts also caution engineering students not to invest time and money on external training centres, and instead focus on using the internet (YouTube) as a handy resource to master skill sets.

Pay packages

As per experts, fresh automotive electronics engineers can potentially expect packages in the range of ₹2 lakhs per annum to start off with. With mid-level experience, engineers would be offered ₹4.5 lakhs per annum on an average. However, these packages vary based on the nature and scale of firms and job profiles.

  1. I am interested in automotive electronics and automation. So to enter in automation industry should I go for post graduation after B.E OR just an undergraduate degree is fine?.Please also suggest where should I pursue post-graduation?

  2. Hello Amey
In my point of you, rather than trying for masters you may look for a career in Automotive industry and then learn/hone your skills through experience.
I would suggest going for a masters degree only if you are completely passionate in doing it from an education perspective alone.
If you want to start a career into automotive electronics/any electronics domain, and want to grow I feel the educational kick start of BE should be good enough.
I have said this only from my experience in Automotive electronics industry, and this opinion may differ among people.
