Renesas Electronics Corporation released the new RZ/N2L microprocessor units (MPUs) for Industrial Ethernet connectivity, which make it simple to add network capabilities to industrial equipment and devices. It facilitates the creation of industrial-standard requirements and protocols. The Time-Sensitive Networking (TSN) Ethernet standard, which provides real-time communication, is supported by these new products.
RZ/N2L is equipped with affluent peripheral features like a delta-sigma interface, an A/D converter, and a PWM timer, and an integrated TSN-compliant 3-port Gigabit Ethernet Switch. This MPUs consist of Arm Cortex-R52, which has a maximum operating frequency of 400 MHz and incorporates large capacity ECC RAM. It enables them to be used as a standalone device to create applications like remote I/O, sensor hubs, and inverters. The RZ/N2L may transition from a Fieldbus based on RS485 or CAN to Industrial Ethernet thanks to the UART and CAN functionalities.
RZ/N2L supports the new PROFINET IRT and also EtherCAT, PROFINET RT, EtherNet/IP, OPC UA, and other popular industrial network communication protocols. The RZ/N2L connects to the host CPU via parallel and serial host interfaces for external applications. As a result, the fast link can be made directly between the RZ/N2L and the CPU. Additionally, the RZ/N2L’s system RAM is directly accessed by the external CPU to obtain communication data.
The features of RZ/N2L microprocessor units are as follows:
- CPU: Arm Cortex-R52
- Operating frequency of 400 MHz maximum.
- 256KB tightly coupled memory
- 1.5 MB internal RAM (with ECC)
- DLR, PRP (Network redundancy support)
- EtherCAT slave controller
- Accelerator for Trigonometric function
