STM32H5

STMicroelectronics has released a development board for creating diverse applications with STM32H5 microcontrollers (MCUs). The company claims that the MCUs provide high-efficiency processing and some security features, making them suitable for a broad spectrum of applications, encompassing smart sensors, intelligent appliances, industrial control systems, networking hardware, consumer electronics, and medical devices.

The STM32H573I-DK Discovery kit grants developers the ability to thoroughly investigate the various integrated characteristics of the STM32H5, including analogue peripherals, timers, the ST ART (Adaptive Real-Time) Accelerator, multimedia interfaces, and computational accelerators. This functionality simplifies the assessment of new designs for industrial programmable logic controllers (PLC), motor drives, and intelligent appliance controllers, including those in air conditioners, refrigerators, and washing machines. The kit is also instrumental in developing applications such as alarm systems, communication centres, and intelligent lighting controls.

The press release says that the discovery kit is a multifaceted development tool, housing a microcontroller, a colour touch display, a digital microphone, and various interfaces such as USB, Ethernet, and Wi-Fi. Further enhancing its versatility, the board incorporates an audio codec, flash memory, and connection points for expansion shields and daughterboards.

Some of the features of the discovery kit include:

  •  Arm Cortex‑M33 core with Arm TrustZone
  • 2 MB of flash memory
  • 640 Kbytes of SRAM
  • 1.54″ TFT 240 × 240 pixels colour LCD with LED backlight and touch panel
  • User USB with USB 2.0 full-speed interface
  • Ethernet 10/100 Mbit/s, compliant with IEEE-802.3-2002
  • SAI audio codec
  • One ST-MEMS digital microphone
  • 512-Mbit Octo‑SPI NOR flash memory
  • Fan-out daughterboard

The company says the development board has a Micro-Electro-Mechanical Systems (MEMS) digital microphone and numerous connectors, including ARDUINO Uno V3, Pmod, and STMod+, facilitating effortless connections to extension shields or daughterboards for specialised applications.
