Flex Power Modules, provider of scalable direct current to direct current (DC/DC) power converters, has released a range of DC/DC converters, the PKE3600A, that can provide up to 60W power from an industry-standard 50.8 x 25.4 x 11.9mm (2 x 1 x 0.47 inch) through-pin package.
The new DC/DC series has an input range of 9-36 Vdc that covers applications using both 12V and 24V nominal inputs. It provides a choice of fully regulated single outputs: 5V, 12V, 24V, 48V or 54V.
Isolation for the PKE3600A series is 1600V input to output and input/output to case, and the parts meet the safety requirements of IEC/EN 62368-1 for functional isolation. Full protection is included against over-temperature, input under-voltage and output over-current, over-voltage and short circuits.
Efficiency is up to 91% and the parts will operate from -40°C to 100°C case temperature.A remote-control input is featured along with an output voltage adjust function.
Mean time between failures (MTBF) across the series is over 8M hours according to Telcordia SR-332 Issue 3, method 1 at 25°C. Electro-magnetic compatibility (EMC) standards EN 55032, CISPR32 and Federal Communications Commission (FCC) part 15J are met with good margin with an external filter network with suggested components listed in the data sheet. The parts also meet standard EN 45545-2 for railway fire safety.
