With rapid switching, sound isolation, and a compact form factor, it’s ready to power electronic projects.Â
The ADRF5022 is an electronic component designed explicitly as a single-pole, double-throw (SPDT) switch, and it is produced using advanced silicon manufacturing processes. Its rapid ON/OFF switching capability sets this switch apart, boasting a swift response time of just 20 nanoseconds. The switch is a competent and versatile device that stands out for its broad operational range, rapid switching, excellent isolation, low signal loss, and efficient power management.
In terms of performance, the switch offers enhanced features. It delivers a good isolation level, providing up to 60 dB of isolation between its input and output ports. Additionally, it incurs minimal signal loss during operation, with an insertion loss measuring less than 2.3 dB, which ensures minimal degradation of the signal passing through it. Furthermore, this switch can handle significant radio frequency (RF) power levels. Specifically, it can manage an RF input power of up to 30 dBm for the through path and 24 dBm for the terminated path. Moreover, it can tolerate a power level of 30 dBm during hot switching at the RF common port, showcasing its robust and reliable performance characteristics.
The key features include:
- Frequency 100 MHz to 45 GHz
- Isolation 43 to 60 dB
- Supply Voltage -3.45 to 3.45 V
- Impedance 50 Ohms
- Operating Temperature -40°C to +105°C
- Storage Temperature -65°C to +150°C
To power this remarkable device, it requires a dual DC supply, with a positive voltage of +3.3 V and a negative voltage of -3.3 V. Despite its high-performance capabilities, the ADRF5022 is remarkably power-efficient, drawing less than 510 microamperes (μA) of current during operation. This efficiency is crucial in various applications where power consumption is a concern.
Compact Design for Diverse Applications
Regarding control compatibility, it is designed to work seamlessly with complementary metal-oxide semiconductor (CMOS) and low-voltage transistor-to-transistor logic (LVTTL) control signals, ensuring its ease of integration into diverse electronic systems. It offers flexibility in its power supply configuration. It can function effectively with just a single positive supply voltage while connecting the negative supply voltage (VSS) to the ground. This configuration maintains its small signal performance while slightly derating its switching characteristics, linearity, and power handling capabilities.
It is available in a compact 20-terminal LGA (Land Grid Array) package, measuring 3 x 3 millimetres. Such a compact form factor makes it ideal for a wide range of applications, including but not limited to test and instrumentation, cellular infrastructure (especially in 5G millimetre-wave systems), military radios, radar systems, electronic countermeasures (ECMs), microwave radios, tiny aperture terminals (VSATs), and industrial scanner applications. Its compatibility with various control signals and compact size make it an invaluable component in a wide array of cutting-edge electronic applications across multiple industries.
