Dive into the future of cardiovascular monitoring with a device that combines efficiency, user-friendliness, and detailed health insights, all while supporting battery-powered applications for ultimate convenience.
Blood pressure is a crucial physiological measure of the human body, providing significant insights into health and disease states. Two primary methods for measuring blood pressure are the Korotkoff Sound and the Oscillometry methods. This reference design for an electronic sphygmomanometer can capture systolic, diastolic, and heart rate data in a single measurement. The device, equipped with a cuff around the upper arm, collects and processes data to determine systolic, diastolic, and heart rate values from the raw pressure readings. Each measurement result is saved to the EEPROM, which can hold up to 80 records. When storage is full, the newest record replaces the oldest.
The TIDM-BPM reference design by Texas Instruments demonstrates the detection of blood pressure and heart rate, operating in low-power mode (LPM3) and primarily displaying the date and time. Users can initiate a blood pressure measurement by pressing the ‘measure’ button and view records by pressing the ‘memory’ button. All measured data is stored in the EEPROM upon completion of the measurement, with a maximum capacity of 80 records. This portable electronic device is designed with efficiency and user-friendliness, featuring ultra-low power consumption in standby mode (LPM3+RTC+LCD), making it ideal for battery-powered applications. It incorporates a microcontroller unit (MCU) with an integrated LCD driver, providing a one-chip solution that simplifies the design and enhances the device’s compactness. The device is easy to use, equipped with just two buttons and offers four operation modes to cater to various user needs. It supports the readout of raw data, allowing for more detailed analysis and utility.
Various medical and personal care devices are essential for health management and personal grooming in the industrial sector. These include blood pressure monitors, crucial for tracking cardiovascular health, and CPAP machines that provide vital therapy for sleep apnea. Electric shavers and toothbrushes offer convenience and enhanced hygiene, while epilators and hair removers cater to personal grooming needs. Hair groomers further complement personal care routines. In a medical setting, patient monitors are indispensable, with IBP modules measuring invasive blood pressure, NIBP modules monitoring non-invasive blood pressure, and subsystem modules providing comprehensive patient monitoring capabilities. Treadmills serve both health facilities and home users for fitness and rehabilitation purposes. Lastly, wearable fitness and activity monitors have become fundamental in encouraging a healthy and active lifestyle, offering users real-time data to track their physical activities.
