The DC-DC converters are designed for harsh environments and are suitable for medical, industrial, and mobile applications. They have outputs up to 750W.
TDK Corporation has launched the RGB series, a range of ruggedized non-isolated DC-DC converters rated from 400 to 750W. These converters are mainly designed for use in harsh environments. They are suitable for a variety of applications, including medical devices, automated guided vehicles (AGV), industrial mobile robots (IMR), drones, commercial off-the-shelf (COTS) systems, and other industrial, test, measurement, and battery-powered equipment.
These converters are ideal for medical systems, AGVs, IMRs, drones, COTS, industrial systems, testing equipment, and other battery-operated devices. The series offers outputs up to 750W within a compact 1/16th brick footprint, with high efficiency and a wide range of output voltage and input configurations. An adjustable current limit enhances system protection under high load conditions, and the converters can handle case temperatures up to 115°C.
The RGB series operates on input voltages ranging from 9 to 18V, 18 to 32V, or 18 to 60V. These buck step-down converters can deliver adjustable output voltages from 0.8 to 8V or 3.3 to 24V, with output currents reaching up to 60A, depending on the power level. They boast efficiencies of up to 98.5%, which allows for high usable power in demanding thermal environments. The converters can operate across a wide temperature range from -40°C to +115°C, enhancing battery life and reliability under extreme conditions.
Measuring 38.1 x 49.5 x 13.0 mm (WxLxH), the converters are encapsulated to withstand shocks and vibrations according to MIL-STD-810G standards. Their five-sided aluminium casing reduces radiated EMI and supports conduction cooling to a cold plate, enabling fanless operation. The standard features include an output voltage adjustment pin, negative logic remote on-off, remote sense, and protections against input under-voltage, over-current, and overheating. An optional adjustable current limit feature is available to safeguard the input source, the converter, and the load during overload conditions.
