The recent modular cooling device built by Technotrans is based on a master-slave concept, where a base module (Master) provides a cooling capacity of 1,700 watts. This capacity can be doubled to 3,400 watts by adding an extension module (Slave). The cooling system uses R290 (propane), with less than 100 grams of refrigerant per module, allowing it to be transported without restrictions by air. This design simplifies both logistics and device setup.

The modular cooling system demonstrates significant advancements in performance, energy efficiency, and compliance with future regulations. “Air-transportable propane laboratory coolers with a cooling capacity of more than 3 kilowatts are a world first – offered only by technotrans,” said Jan Kröger, Head of Division Healthcare & Analytics, Technotrans systems GmbH. The product is highly suitable for research laboratories, healthcare facilities, and industrial applications where precise temperature control is crucial. The environmentally friendly refrigerant ensures the system remains compliant with upcoming refrigerant regulations, including the European F-Gas Regulation of 2027 and the US AIM Act of 2024. Propane’s low Global Warming Potential (GWP) value of 3 also makes it a future-proof option, even with a planned ban on chemical refrigerants in Europe by 2032.

The modular setup offers exceptional flexibility, with the base module requiring only two hoses and a supply plug to operate. The electronics detect whether an additional module is connected, simplifying installation with a plug-and-play approach. This system can be operational within minutes, enhancing user convenience and adaptability for various laboratory applications.

The cooling system’s state-of-the-art controller, the technotrans ZKS-5, maintains precise temperature control with an accuracy of 0.1 Kelvin. The controller is compatible with common communication interfaces, including RS232 and Ethernet, providing real-time updates on system operation. The cooler operates within a temperature range of 15 to 25 degrees Celsius, with a maximum flow rate of 45 liters per minute at 5 bar pressure.

With its modular design, compact size, and mobility, Technotran’s new cooler is a cutting-edge solution, ensuring both performance and regulatory compliance for modern laboratories
