Siemens has introduced the SIRIUS 3RC7 intelligent link module, a solution designed to improve data transparency at the field level, significantly benefiting industrial automation.
This plug-and-play expansion module launched by Siemens merges information technology (IT) and operational technology (OT) while requiring minimal installation and commissioning effort. As part of Siemens’ comprehensive automation framework, Totally Integrated Automation (TIA), the SIRIUS 3RC7 modules integrate seamlessly into existing systems, ensuring that data from load feeders can be efficiently utilized. Target users include plant managers, automation engineers, and maintenance professionals seeking to enhance operational efficiency and reliability in their manufacturing processes.
Andreas Matthé, CEO of Electrical Products, Siemens Smart Infrastructure, stated, “Transparency down to field level is becoming increasingly important. However, many devices are not connected to the automation system, which means important data is missing. By digitalizing the field level, we are creating a new dimension of transparency and enabling data-driven decisions.”
The SIRIUS 3RC7 module allows for the direct collection and evaluation of various load feeder parameters, such as voltage, current, phase imbalance, and overload trip counts. Its integrated diagnostic functions facilitate quicker fault detection and resolution. Moreover, the data collected can be utilized in Senseye Predictive Maintenance, Siemens’ AI-driven solution that analyzes current fluctuations to identify potential defects. This feature greatly enhances planning reliability for maintenance, system availability, and cost efficiency.
With full TIA integration, users benefit from real-time status updates within their operating software. Utilizing specialized applications like Node-RED, operators can access dashboards that quickly highlight bottlenecks, thereby minimizing downtime and enhancing system availability.
The SIRIUS 3RC7 modules integrate seamlessly into the compact SIMATIC ET 200SP I/O system as well as other common automation systems. Each BA-Send module bus adapter allows the connection of up to 16 load feeders, providing easy commissioning, scalability, and flexibility.
By combining the SIRIUS 3RC7 intelligent link module with SIRIUS switchgear and the compact SIMATIC ET 200SP I/O system for control cabinets, Siemens ensures effective and reliable data exchange between OT and IT. The introduction of the SIRIUS Intelligent Load Feeder, a pre-assembled digital feeder consisting of a SIRIUS 3RV2 circuit breaker, a SIRIUS 3RT2 contactor, and the intelligent link module, marks a significant advancement in the SIRIUS modular system.
