Ideal for solar inverters, motor control, and UPS systems, these compact solutions support high-voltage stages with superior noise immunity and thermal safety margins, meeting the rigorous demands of modern power applications.

Vishay Intertechnology, Inc. has unveiled two new high-performance drivers, the VOFD341A and VOFD343A, designed for IGBT and MOSFET applications. These drivers are housed in a compact, high-isolation stretched SO-6 package, providing peak output currents of 3 A and 4 A, respectively. These devices meet demanding power application requirements.

Each optocoupler integrates an AlGaAs LED paired with a power output stage through optical coupling, ensuring reliable operation. They are optimized for applications such as solar inverters, microinverters, industrial motor control inverters, and uninterruptible power supply (UPS) inverter stages. The drivers are especially suitable for directly driving IGBTs rated up to 1200 V / 100 A, reducing the need for additional driver stages.  The key features:

  • 2.5 A minimum peak current
  • 3.0 A peak maximum output current
  • Operating Temperature Range  Reaches up to +125°C
  • Low Propagation Delay: 200 nanoseconds (ns)

Their high operating temperatures enable greater thermal safety margins, supporting compact designs. Their high peak output currents facilitate faster switching, enhancing system efficiency. The low propagation delay reduces switching losses and improves pulse width modulation (PWM) precision, which is essential for advanced inverter applications.

In addition to their performance benefits, the optocouplers offer high isolation, supporting working voltages of up to 1,140 V, which is critical for high-voltage inverter stages while ensuring voltage safety margins. They also provide superior noise immunity of 50 kV/µs, preventing malfunctions in fast-switching environments.

Fully compliant with RoHS standards, the drivers are now available for sampling and production orders, with a typical lead time of six weeks. These devices offer a reliable and efficient solution for modern power systems, enabling precise and safe operation in demanding environments. For more information, click links 1 and link 2.
