Job Responsibility
- The Selected candidate shall be responsible for the end-to-end design and development of automotive electrical switches and assembly parts, including creating 3D models for various switch types such as combination, control, and modular switches.
- There role involves conducting feasibility checks on styling sketches, providing design inputs, and ensuring seamless integration of switches into vehicle systems by defining clear interface requirements and packaging parts within the vehicle’s DMU.
- They will also develop and coordinate Design Verification Plans (DVP), define test parameters for performance and reliability, and collaborate with the testing team for execution.
- Additionally, they will also conduct Design Reviews (DR), FMEAs, and apply analytical tools to identify and resolve quality issues using root cause analysis.
- Staying abreast of global trends, regulations, and technologies, as will benchmark practices, innovate for enhanced performance, and develop long-term roadmaps.
- There responsibilities also include monitoring project schedules, ensuring timely delivery, and continuously improving functionality, manufacturability, cost-efficiency, and weight optimization.
- This role requires effective cross-functional collaboration and a commitment to transforming design concepts into reality.
Required Expertise
- Proficiency in switch design, layout (switch internals and vehicle-side), and CAD tools (preferably Unigraphics).
- Thorough knowledge of switch child-part manufacturing processes such as tooling, molding, sealing, and wiring harnesses.
- Familiarity with micro switches, tact switches, rubber membrane-type switches, and high/low current switches.
- Understanding of automotive electrical systems and switch-related circuits (12V and 48V systems).
- Competency in global automotive industry standards, regulations, and ISO/TS standards.
- Knowledge of materials used for automotive switches (plastics, contact materials) and their selection criteria.
- Familiarity with product lifecycle management systems and functional safety requirements.
Preferred Add-Ons
- Basic understanding of automotive electronics.
- Expertise in combination switch, control switch, and modular switch design.
Behavioral Competencies
- Effective communication with team members, peers, and seniors.
- Strong team player with the initiative to transform concepts into reality.
- Commitment to continuous improvement in all aspects of design and development.
