A partnership improves over-the-air (OTA) testing to meet new-tech wireless demands, covering 5G, Wi-Fi 7, and beyond.
Rohde & Schwarz and ETS-Lindgren have expanded their collaboration to develop over-the-air (OTA) testing solutions for emerging wireless technologies. The integration of Rohde & Schwarz’s CMX500 signalling tester and SMBV100B vector signal generator into ETS-Lindgren’s EMQuestTM software signifies a leap in testing standards. This innovation sets compatibility with modern technologies, including 5G FR1, 5G FR2, Wi-Fi 7, and assisted-GNSS (A-GNSS).
The tester offers extensive testing capabilities for both cellular and non-cellular systems, supporting advancements such as 5G RedCap and the latest Wi-Fi protocols. Meanwhile, the signal generator is recognised for its high-output, wideband signal generation and GNSS constellation simulation. Together, these instruments provide realistic, repeatable scenarios under controlled conditions, enabling rigorous device validation. The solution primarily targets wireless technology developers, mobile network operators, and manufacturers seeking precise and future-proof testing systems.
ETS-Lindgren’s integration of these technologies with its anechoic chambers and software creates a versatile solution for both single input single output (SISO) and multiple input multiple output (MIMO) systems. These setups are certified by CTIA for 4G and 5G FR1 standards and support carrier aggregation across diverse bands, ensuring seamless compatibility with advanced wireless applications.
“By integrating the CMX500 and SMBV100B with ETS-Lindgren’s flexible OTA systems, we enable customers to stay at the forefront of technology development,” noted Christoph Pointer, senior vice president of mobile radio testers, Rohde & Schwarz.
James Young, director of wireless solutions, ETS-Lindgren highlighted, “The technology reach afforded by the CMX500 is industry-leading… customers know that if the R&S instrumentation supports a certain protocol, it can be added as a test option for the overall system.”
This partnership reflects a commitment to delivering upgradeable solutions, ensuring longevity and adaptability in a rapidly evolving wireless ecosystem. These advancements position industries to address emerging demands with confidence and accuracy.
