A new ultra-compact gas discharge tube series ensures reliable surge protection for industrial and communication systems, engineered for space-constrained applications.
Bourns, California, has introduced the model GDT21 Gas Discharge Tube (GDT) series, the latest surge protection device tailored for compact industrial and communication setups. This 2-electrode GDT offers enhanced transient voltage protection to shield systems from electrical surges caused by lightning and AC switching.
Built in a compact EIA 1206 package, the GDT series delivers advanced voltage-limiting capabilities crucial for space-restricted applications. Its swift response to rising voltage transients minimises potential stress on downstream components, ensuring reliable operation in challenging environments. Designed for professionals in telecommunications, industrial automation, and system integrators, the series addresses the growing demand for reliable surge protection in compact designs such as HVAC systems, antennae, and communication networks.
The device operates across a broad temperature range of -40°C to +105°C and supports voltage ratings between 150V and 600V. Additionally, its low capacitance ensures minimal signal interference, making it ideal for maintaining performance in signal-sensitive systems.
“The launch of our model GDT21 Series showcases Bourns’ commitment to expanding our high-performance circuit protection offering in miniature form factors,” remarked David Chavarría, GDT/SPD product line manager, Bourns.
By addressing the need for robust surge handling in confined spaces, Bourns reinforces its position as a key player in advanced protection technology for modern electronic systems.
