As Lead Engineer the successful candidate will be part of a highly motivated, dynamic team of engineers working on the delivery and application engineering of existing and new electronic applications, particularly for HVDC converters and the forthcoming HVDC Grid”. Roles & Responsibilities
- The candidate requires electronics expertise at graduate level or equivalent experience, with a good level of the technical understanding of digital, and where possible analogue electronic design for an industrial control system.
- The candidate should demonstrate a high degree of knowledge and understanding of electronic components & principles.
- The candidate should demonstrate an ability to think innovatively and apply engineering knowledge.
- An enquiring mind and desire to learn new skills, an ability to apply different engineering methods and a willingness to share knowledge are essential qualities.
At this level it is expected some level of judgment and the ability to propose different solutions outside of set parameters but with guidance. Uses prior experience and on-the-job training to solve straightforward tasks. Has access to technical skills and analytic thinking required to solve problems. May use multiple internal sources to arrive at decisions.
Skills and Experience
- Able to work to deadlines with a high quality and accuracy.
- Dynamic and proactive with ability to work on own or as part of a multi-disciplinary engineering team to resolve technical issues.
- Has knowledge of HVDC. (Preferred attribute)
- Has awareness of EHS compliance in design and engineering.
- Has knowledge of digital electronic circuit design and development.
- Has knowledge of analogue electronic circuit design and development.
- Has knowledge of schematic capture supervision.
- Has knowledge of PCB layout supervision including rules & constraints.
- Has knowledge of electronic component selection, analysis, and qualification testing.
- Has awareness of Controllership and ROHS/REACH compliance.
- Has Knowledge of FPGA component selection.
- Has experience of product verification (bench testing) and validation (integration testing) testing.
- Has experience of electronic design for EMC.
- Has experience of design for manufacture (DFM), test (DFT), industrialization & design to cost.
- Has some knowledge and experience of firmware code development. (Preferred attribute)
- Has some knowledge and experience of model based product development tools (MATLAB, Mathcad, LTspice). (Preferred attribute)
