Reference Design For Universal IPv6-Based Data Concentrator

This reference design offers an open, IPv6 standard-based universal data concentrator solution capable of supporting a wide range of connectivity devices such as Ethernet, 6LoWPAN mesh networking, and RS-485. As industrial markets increasingly adopt IPv6-based grid communications, applications like smart metering and grid automation leverage this design for its comprehensive networking capabilities. The universal data concentrator integrates IPv6-enabled Ethernet backbone communication, 6LoWPAN RF mesh networking, and RS-485 interfaces into a versatile platform. The 6LoWPAN mesh network addresses critical requirements, including standard-based interoperability, reliability, robust security, and long-distance communication. 

This design, TIDA-010032 by Texas Instruments, supports the remote control and monitoring of end devices through an embedded web server accessible via Ethernet connectivity. The design offers 3.3-V and 5-V voltage rails and peripheral interfaces for expanded connectivity options, such as broadband power-line communication (PLC), cellular, and Wi-Fi. It delivers robust wireless communication for IoT applications.
