Covid-19 pandemic has changed the way people go about in their day-to-day lives. During this time, the focus has widely been on making daily tasks as unchallenging as possible while maintaining new norms like social distancing.
To contribute to the current situation and fulfil needs of its customers, startup Muse Wearables has come up with a wrist-based Covid-19 tracker with sensors like those for skin temperature, SpO2 (blood oxygen saturation), and so on to continuously track body vitals for remote assessment and monitoring of people. The data is stored on the phone as well as on a remote server for early diagnosis of Covid-19 symptoms like hypoxia.
It also receives notifications from the Arogya Setu app and shows containment zones in the vicinity to alert users. The tracker can even be used for proactive healthcare in general. Just like their other products, it can be shipped to anywhere in around seventy countries after an order is placed on the startup’s website.
The tracker is Bluetooth-enabled and can be connected to a mobile phone via the Muse Health App. Muse Health app has been mainly designed to help users track and monitor various health aspects, including sleep, weight, nutrition, calories burned, heart rate, and much more. Based on virtual assessments and data collected, actions to be taken by users are suggested for better health and to achieve targets like losing weight. There are detailed explanations on how to do a particular activity and what will be its benefit. The newly launched essential maps feature on the app shows the availability of masks and other essentials in nearby stores.
Their journey started in 2016 at IIT Madras Incubation Cell, Chennai, India. After raising funds in Angel round, the team designed, developed, and manufactured a payment-enabled hybrid smartwatch—Muse Hybrid SmartWatch. The watch automatically updates its time to the digital time, and a secondary timezone can also be set. UV sensors alert users on whether they are exposed to low, medium, or heavy UV radiation. There are also options for sleep and activity tracking to help maintain fitness.
Users can track their device with the track phone feature. Other features include call alert with caller ID, email alert, emergency alert, phone camera control, music control like increasing or decreasing volume, among others. The notifications can be customised and filtered by users to avoid distractions. The leather straps are embedded with custom-made NFC chips.
Using the same technology as Debit or Credit cards, Musecard is a virtual card issued by Musepay and is currently available for India, UK, and EU residents only. For places accepting MasterCard contactless payments, users can simply use their watch to make transactions securely and switch on the lock mode afterward. Other settings can be done via the Musepay app.
The startup is also working on antiviral coating and portable, Bluetooth-enabled, and remotely controllable low-cost ventilators.
