209% Increase In EV Registration In The Country

New data from the government states that there have been Eighty-five hundred thousand new registrations of EVs in the country past seven and a half months. This is a 209% increase in 2022 compared to the previous year. The total number of Evs is now around 2.83 million.

The data presented to the Lok Sabha in the previous week proves that 1.2 million EVs were registered across the country in 2022, which is far more than the thirty-three hundred thousand registrations in the year 2021. Uttar Pradesh shows the highest number of registrations right now, with over fifty-seven hundred thousand registrations, followed by Maharashtra with thirty hundred thousand, Karnataka with twenty-four hundred thousand and Delhi with over twenty-three hundred thousand. Other states like Bihar, Assam. Tamil Nadu and Gujarat show promising numbers over a hundred thousand registrations. These numbers include the use of e-rickshaws too.

The government had previously introduced the Faster Adoption and Manufacturing of Electric(FAME) scheme to promote EVs. The focus of FAME in the second phase is to promote EVs with the adaption of EVs in public transport and introduce subsidies to buses, 3-wheelers and passenger cars.
