A new generation of 3D snapshot sensors from Micro-Epsilon offers precision in surface inspection for superior measurements.
The latest advancement in 3D surface measurement technology comes with the introduction of Micro-Epsilon’s ‘surfaceCONTROL’ 3D snapshot sensors. Developed to inspect the geometry, shape, and surface of matte objects, these sensors provide unparalleled precision, featuring a Z-axis repeatability of 0.25µm and an XY resolution of up to 8µm. These capabilities allow for the detection of even the smallest surface details, making it possible to perform high-resolution measurements with extreme accuracy.
Designed to elevate surface measurement technology, the new sensors are now able to offer “maximum Z-axis precision” alongside “an outstanding XY resolution of up to 8µm.” This improvement enables the sensors to detect finer surface features and ensure even more precise measurements than previous models. Such precision is especially valuable for industries requiring meticulous surface inspections, such as automotive, aerospace, and medical device manufacturing.
Further, sectors like semiconductor production, additive manufacturing, and research and development stand to benefit greatly from the advanced measurement capabilities of these sensors. Whether in quality control or during the design phase, professionals in these industries can rely on these sensors to capture and analyse minute details that are critical for product performance and safety.
These sensors are equipped with inline capabilities, providing a complete solution for industrial customers beginning from data acquisition to the output of measured values. The integration of various interfaces ensures compatibility across different systems and platforms, making them suitable for diverse applications. The new measuring range of 30mm enhances the versatility of the surfaceCONTROL 3D 3xx0 series, which is specifically designed for inspecting smaller objects with dimensions up to 31mm x 19.5mm.
These sensors are well-suited for deployment in challenging production environments, where precision is crucial. They are housed in a robust aluminium casing and boast an IP67 certification, ensuring durability and reliability even in harsh conditions, including use on robotic systems.
