5G Device Testing With Enhanced One-Box System

This enhancement reduces the need for separate systems, cutting costs and simplifying the testing process while offering scalable and efficient conformance testing solutions.

Anritsu Corporation has announced a significant enhancement to its New Radio RF Conformance Test System, ME7873NR Lite Model. This update enables it to support both RF and protocol conformance testing for 5G communication devices in a single-box configuration. This update streamlines the testing process by integrating the functionality of previously separate testing systems into one versatile tester. When configured as a one-box tester, the Radio Communication Test Station MT8000A can now perform RF conformance testing using the Lite Model. In contrast, protocol conformance testing is handled by the 5G NR Mobile Device Test Platform ME7834NR Lite Model.

Previously, these tests required separate hardware configurations, leading to higher costs and complexity. The new enhancements allow seamless switching between RF and protocol testing within the same system, significantly optimising the capital investment required for 5G device conformance testing. The Lite Model is built around the Radio Communication Test Station and is designed to perform RF conformance testing for 5G devices. The Lite Model’s streamlined hardware setup reduces test times by approximately 20% compared to the full model, which requires multiple measuring instruments.The enhanced system automates the testing process, supporting both conformance testing and the repetitive testing needed for device verification, such as regression testing.  The key features include:

  • Supports 5G FR1 TRx tests with the latest updates.
  • Includes select Performance (Perf) tests.
  • Includes select Radio Resource Management (RRM) tests.
  • Test items for Perf and RRM are limited in scope.

This makes the Lite Model an ideal solution for those needing essential conformance testing capabilities at a reduced cost. The one-box tester configuration is particularly cost-effective, as it reduces the need for multiple test systems.  Customers who already own the Radio Communication Test Station can now conduct both RF and protocol conformance testing with minimal additional investment. Moreover, the Lite Model can be upgraded to the full model for comprehensive conformance testing if needed, providing a scalable solution that can grow with testing requirements. This scalability feature reassures the audience about future-proofing their testing requirements. This efficiency not only speeds up the testing process but also reduces overall testing costs. This comprehensive approach ensures reliable and thorough test results, instilling confidence in the system’s performance.
