Half-bridge driver Integrated Circuits (ICs) that claims to provide flexible designs for high system power level.
Infineon Technologies India Private Limited has launched a 1200 V half-bridge driver integrated circuit (IC) family, which the company claims offers customers more options and design flexibility. According to the press release issued by the company, the increased output current capability of the ICs finds application in high system power level designs. The devices claim to provide superior negative transient immunity, shoot-through protection, under-voltage lockout, and rapid overcurrent protection. The company claims that the IC family’s characteristics decrease the bill of materials (BOM) and facilitate a more robust design in a small form factor that is appropriate for high-power applications such as commercial Heating, ventilation, and air conditioning (HVAC) systems, heat pumps, servo drives, industrial inverters, pumps, and fans up to 10 kW.
According to the company’s claim, the Silicon on Insulator (SOI) technology removes the parasitic thyristor structure, resulting in excellent robustness and immunity to negative transient voltages on the voltage pin. The devices claim to offer reliable protection against voltage transients of up to 100 V, even when subjected to multiple 700-ns pulses. Moreover, they comply with the Restriction of Hazardous Substances in Electrical and Electronic Equipment (RoHS) standards and exhibit resistance to electrostatic discharge (ESD) and moisture.
The press release highlights that the half-bridge driver ICs include four versions in two packages. One version provides +2.3 A / -4.6 A current capability, while the other supports +2.3 A / -2.3 A current drive capability. The product line boasts top-notch switching performance, and the packages provide ample creepage and clearance distances. The devices incorporate a bootstrap diode with low resistance (30 Ω), as well as ultra-fast and precise (± 5% tolerance) overcurrent protection (OCP), an enable input, fault-out, and programmable fault reset with distinct logic (VSS) and output ground (COM) pins. The product claims to offer additional features such as Active Miller Clamp (AMC) and Short Circuit Clamp (SCC).
Some of the key features of the half-bridge driver ICs include :
- A source/sink currents
- 19 ns typ. propagation delay
- +6/-4 ns propagation delay accuracy
- 1.8 μs output start-up time
- 500 ns output shut-down time
- Active output voltage clamping
- -12 V input robustness
- 5 A reverse current robustness
- 4 V and 8 V UVLO options
