On National Autonomous Vehicle Day in the USA, the Jeep brand offers a sneak peek of its future generation of advanced off-road driving technology.

AI EQUIPPED AUTONOMOUS DRIVING

Future advanced off-road driving tech will revolutionize terrain navigation. With cutting-edge sensors, intelligent navigation, and adaptive suspension, vehicles easily conquer rugged landscapes. Augmented reality displays and real-time terrain analysis will enhance safety and optimize performance, raising the bar for off-road adventures. The challenges in developing advanced off-road driving technology include extreme condition durability, reliable sensor data, complex algorithms, electric vehicle limitations, and affordable integration.

A team led by Neda Cvijetic, Head of Artificial Intelligence (AI) & Autonomous Driving at Stellantis, tested the latest automated off-road driving technology prototypes designed exclusively for the Jeep brand in Moab, Utah.

The latest AI and autonomous off-road driving technology have been installed in two electrified Jeep Grand Cherokee 4xe models. This cutting-edge technology aims to enhance the off-roading experiences of both seasoned off-road enthusiasts and newcomers to trail driving. Additionally, it will assist Jeep sport utility vehicle (SUV) owners in navigating challenging everyday driving conditions. The Jeep brand is actively leading the way in the development of automated off-road driving technology while also solidifying its position as a leader in off-road electrification through the expansion of its one of the SUV lineup.

“In the same way that our 4xe electrification takes Jeep brand’s off-road capability to new heights, these advanced off-road driving systems will help more customers in more countries around the world join and enjoy the adventure. These features and technology will have real-life applications on and off the trail in a wide range of driving conditions,” said Christian Meunier, Jeep brand CEO.

This summer, the Jeep brand plans to release a complete video presentation showcasing the next generation of its advanced autonomous off-road driving technology.
