Its educational tools and compact, multi-functional design make it ideal for lab environments and compact spaces, offering a practical and comprehensive solution for modern testing needs.

Rohde & Schwarz has announced its latest entry-level oscilloscope, the R&S RTB 2. This upgrade to the popular R&S RTB2000 was originally introduced in 2017 as the first entry-level oscilloscope with a touchscreen interface and 10-bit vertical resolution. Building on these features, it introduces advanced capabilities such as an integrated arbitrary waveform generator and a high-capacity segmented memory of 160 Mpts, setting a new benchmark in the category.

The key features include:

  • Bandwidth: 70 MHz to 300 MHz
  • Sample rate: up to 2.5 Gsample/s
  • Memory depth: up to 20 Msample
  • ADC resolution: 10 bit
  • Display: 10.1″ capacitive touchscreen

It aims to enhance user versatility with several critical updates. Its built-in arbitrary waveform generator can generate signals up to 25 MHz and patterns up to 50 Mbits/s, supporting imported waveforms from CSV files or oscilloscope captures, with added noise options for realistic simulation scenarios. Predefined protocol patterns for I2C, SPI, UART, and CAN/LIN allow users to simulate various conditions. These capabilities make it ideal for engineers and educators who require adaptable testing tools.

Positioned as a “10-in-1” solution, the oscilloscope serves multiple functions, acting as an oscilloscope, protocol analyser, logic analyser, waveform generator, and more. This integrated design especially benefits students, hobbyists, and engineers working in compact spaces. Education-friendly features, such as a password-protected mode and built-in web server for remote viewing and control, make it a practical choice for lab and classroom environments.

In addition, the oscilloscope’s expanded memory supports extensive data capture, allowing users to perform deeper troubleshooting with improved detail. The optional software bundle enhances the scope’s capabilities even further, providing additional application options.

Philip Diegmann, Vice President of Oscilloscopes at Rohde & Schwarz, highlights the R&S RTB 2 as a powerful, accessible tool, offering “10-bit resolution and 10-in-1 versatility” for engineers, students, and educators seeking reliable, high-performance instruments.
