Surface-Mount Crystals And Oscillators

Vishay Intertechnology, Inc. has introduced a new range of surface-mount crystals and oscillators, expanding its frequency control product line to simplify sourcing and enhance performance for customers. These innovations offer smaller packages, broader frequency ranges, and improved stability, all while reducing costs.

The new additions to frequency control portfolio include six crystal series and three oscillator series. The crystals feature compact sizes starting at 1.6 mm x 1.2 mm, while the oscillators begin at 2.0 mm x 1.6 mm, saving board space and cutting costs by up to 40% compared to traditional 5 mm x 7 mm packages. The key specifications include:

  • Crystals:
    • Frequency range: 12 MHz to 60 MHz.
    • Includes 32.768 kHz tuning fork crystal for real-time clocks.
    • Tight tolerances: ±20 ppm or better at 25°C.
  • Oscillators:
    • Frequency range: 1.0 MHz to 125 MHz.
    • Improved temperature stability: ±25 ppm or better (previously ±100 ppm).
    • Enhanced performance for demanding environments.

These enhanced specifications make the products well-suited for challenging operating environments. Customizable options are available for frequency stability, tolerance, and operating temperature range, allowing customers to tailor the components to their unique application needs. The company’s focus on smaller, high-performing, and cost-effective frequency control components reflects its commitment to driving efficiency and supporting development programs across industries. These new products empower designers to optimize their systems while maintaining performance and reliability in space-constrained applications.

“Our latest crystals and oscillators provide a competitive alternative to industry-standard surface-mount devices,” said Mike Husman, Senior Vice President of Vishay’s Inductor Division. “Beyond delivering improved performance, their compact designs align with the latest trends in advanced packaging, enabling innovative solutions for commercial applications across diverse markets.”
