The audio chip combines AI, noise cancellation, and up to 10 microphones, improving speech quality and battery life for conversations in noisy environments.
Airoha Technology has announced the release of its wireless audio chip, the AB1595. This chip combines multiple functions into one system-on-chip (SoC), achieving Microsoft Teams Open Office certification. The AB1595 improves speech noise reduction with AI algorithms and supports up to 10 microphones for environmental noise cancellation. It adapts in real-time to maintain consistent noise cancellation, regardless of how users wear the device.
The SoC combines Airoha Technology’s expertise in wireless communication, AI audio, and hearing aid technologies. It addresses customer needs, accelerating the development of AI audio products for clear conversations.
The company claims that the SoC brings speech quality to consumer-grade headsets. Collaborating with up to 10 microphones and using AI algorithms distinguishes user voice from environmental noise. This reduces “voice noise suppression” by up to 40 dB, even in noisy environments like offices or cafes.
The chip’s adaptive ANC optimizes environmental noise reduction based on the user’s fit and the surrounding noise. It automatically adjusts internal filters for performance and comfort. The SoC also uses AI to ensure clear conversation even in noisy settings like aeroplanes or stadiums.
The press release states it is the first wireless audio chip with a 6-core architecture supporting Bluetooth and AI audio processing. It optimizes power consumption by distributing tasks across multiple cores and reducing voltage. Despite high computational demands, the chip ensures a battery life of up to 12 hours with hearing aid functions active.
Airoha Technology’s Senior Vice President, Yuchuan Yang, stated, “The AB1595 is not only Airoha Technology’s first flagship AI audio chip with a built-in AI hardware accelerator but also the fifth-generation chip on the same development platform provided to our customers. Airoha Technology offers a comprehensive Software Development Kit (SDK) solution that allows customers to reuse components developed in previous generations and quickly integrate them with the AB1595, reducing development costs and time to market. Additionally, Airoha Technology’s platform includes complete acoustic design recommendations, including customized software, hardware application notes, and tools to help customers accelerate the development of differentiated end products.”
