Nvidia Corp., a company in chip technology for data centres in artificial intelligence software, has introduced new products for the personal computer market with “AI PCs.” The company has launched three desktop graphics chips with features for gamers, designers, and other users to use AI on their devices without internet-based remote services. These chips are upgraded versions of current models.

The upgraded GeForce RTX 4080 SUPER will feature increased processing cores and enhanced memory speed. According to the company, this model can operate the Stable Diffusion XL image generation software 1.7 times quicker than its counterpart from the previous Nvidia generation. The new chip can also support games with ray tracing, which creates images by tracing the path of individual light rays at a 4K resolution.

According to Justin Walker, a vice president at Nvidia, the combination of new software and improvements in AI models being released by the company will result in a significant performance enhancement over machines using Intel chips.

The company says its new chips will offer more lifelike gaming experiences with AI-enhanced high-definition imagery, contributing to improved dialogue from in-game characters. Additionally, these products will enable more efficient operation of image-editing software from firms like Adobe Inc. Presently, there are around 500 applications optimised to perform more effectively with AI and Nvidia’s RTX technology, as stated by the company.

In a separate statement, Nvidia clarified that the features of its new products do not violate the U.S. government’s export restrictions on AI-related chips to China. The company’s top-tier GTX 4090 had previously encountered these export limitations, necessitating Nvidia to develop a less advanced version specifically for the Chinese market.

The company claims to be the largest producer of graphics processors or GPUs. Gamers who invest thousands of dollars in cards that enhance their gaming experience view Nvidia’s chips as a high-end addition to their PCs.
