They are suitable for EV fast-charging stations, battery storage, photovoltaics, and more and offer robust solutions for managing electromagnetic interference in modern electronic devices.

SCHURTER announced the launch of its new DKUH-1 choke family, designed specifically for energy applications requiring exceptionally high power on the PCB. These current-compensated chokes are engineered to handle currents up to 100 A and a rated voltage of up to 800 VDC, making them a robust solution for a wide range of high-power needs. The trend towards more compact designs continues to influence powerful applications in the energy sector. Traditional methods that involved free wiring are now integrated directly onto circuit boards. This shift towards high-density design, combined with optimized energy efficiency, has increased electromagnetic interference in modern electronic devices, necessitating powerful filter elements to manage these effects.

Key features include:

  • Current-compensated choke
  • Single-phase choke
  • THT (Through-Hole Technology) terminals
  • Flange for easy mounting onto printed circuit boards

The chokes stand out due to their bifilar winding and nanocrystalline cores, allowing exceptionally high currents while maintaining compact dimensions. These chokes can be mounted directly onto PCBs and are suitable for wave soldering. Their open design promotes optimal cooling, both passively and actively, making them ideal for high power ratings in the energy sector with voltages up to 800 VDC. The applications for these high-current chokes are extensive. They are particularly suited for energy applications such as EV fast-charging stations, battery storage systems, photovoltaic installations, and energy converters. It offers solutions for numerous high-power industrial applications.

The technical specifications include:

  • Rated Current:50 – 100 A @ Ta 50 °C
  • Rated inductance7 – 24.3 mH, Tol. -30% +50%
  • Power Operating Frequency0 – 400 Hz
  • Weight760 – 890 g

By incorporating these advanced features, the choke family not only addresses the demands for higher power and compact design but also significantly enhances the performance and reliability of energy applications. This new product launch represents a significant step forward in meeting the evolving needs of the energy sector, offering a reliable, high-performance solution for managing electromagnetic interference in powerful electronic devices.
