Ideal for industrial and automotive uses, it promises reliable operation in demanding environments.

STMicroelectronics has launched the TSB952, a high-speed dual operational amplifier (op amp) with a 52MHz gain-bandwidth product and a supply current of just 3.3mA per channel at 36V. This advanced op amp is designed for power-conscious applications, offering high performance and efficiency.

It features an extended supply voltage range from 4.5V to 36V and rail-to-rail output, making it versatile for various power sources, including industry-standard voltage rails. Its robust design helps systems withstand large transient spikes and voltage drops, ensuring reliable operation in demanding environments. The op amp is particularly suited for industrial and automotive applications due to its wide operating temperature range from -40°C to +125°C and automotive qualification. It is available in a compact 3mm x 3mm DFN8 package with wettable flanks, allowing for space-saving and cost-effective PCB designs. It is also offered in the popular SO8 package, which has standardized pin assignments to facilitate upgrading existing designs for enhanced performance and efficiency.

Key features include:

  • Low offset voltage: 3mV max at 25°C
  • Low current consumption: 3.3mA max per op amp at 36V
  • Output current: 40mA typical at 36V
  • High ESD tolerance: 4kV (human body model)
  • EMI hardened: Ideal for environments with significant electromagnetic interference

The industrial-grade versions in DFN8 and SO8 packages are currently in production. Automotive-qualified devices with AEC-Q101 certification will be available in Q3 2024. Pricing for the TSB952 starts at $0.96 for orders of 1000 units, and free samples are available from the ST eStore. The TSB952 is also part of ST’s 10-year longevity program, ensuring long-term product availability.
