The capacitor technology introduces new high-voltage models that improve power supply and inverters’ performance, reduce costs, and enhance reliability.
Vishay Intertechnology, Inc. has expanded its 299 PHL-4TSI series of snap-in, four-terminal aluminium electrolytic capacitors with new models rated at 350 V, 500 V, 550 V, and 600 V. These additions increase the range of capacitance-voltage combinations available for power supplies and appliance inverters. The 299 PHL-4TSI series from Vishay BC components aims to reduce component counts and costs while enhancing stability and extending product lifespans.
The capacitors are suitable for various users, including power supply manufacturers, industrial equipment producers, and home appliance manufacturers, particularly for devices that incorporate inverters. They are also valuable to electronics designers and engineers involved in projects requiring reliable, high-voltage capacitors and maintenance and repair technicians who work on industrial and household electronic systems.
The capacitors are housed in a cylindrical aluminium case with a pressure relief feature and are insulated with a blue sleeve. They offer ripple current ratings between 1.9 A and 7.6 A, allowing fewer components to meet application needs. These capacitors have a temperature tolerance of 105 °C and a service life of over 5000 hours, even under high ripple currents.
These four-terminal snap-in capacitors can replace larger assemblies of screw terminal capacitors connected with a bus bar, using smaller, PCB-connected components instead. This reduces construction costs and facilitates soldering processes instead of manual mounting. The can sizes range from 35 mm by 50 mm to 45 mm by 100 mm, reducing the required components.
Some of the features of the capacitors include:
- Polarised aluminium electrolytic capacitors, non-solid electrolyte
- Large types, minimised dimensions, cylindrical aluminium case, insulated with a blue sleeve
- Rated voltages up to 600 V
The capacitors are suited for smoothing, filtering, and energy storage. They comply with Reach and RoHS standards, and their four-terminal design offers increased stability and clear polarity indication.
