The relay offers fast switching times in a compact package, ideal for automotive, industrial, and telecom applications.
Vishay Intertechnology, Inc. has launched the industry’s first 1 Form A solid-state relay with AEC-Q102 qualification and a load voltage capacity of 100 V. The device, housed in a compact SOP-4 package, is named the Vishay Semiconductors VORA1010M4. It features unparalleled turn-on and turn-off speeds of 0.1 ms typically, making it the fastest in its class, and can operate up to a maximum temperature of +125 °C.
The product is designed for multiple sectors including the automotive industry, where it is applicable in electric and hybrid electric vehicles for functions such as lighting control, battery management systems, and motor controls. It is also suitable for use in the industrial sector, particularly for motor drives and controls, and in telecommunications to manage power distribution in telecom servers and data centers. Furthermore, it finds applications in security and automation systems, as well as in energy management for operating inverters and similar technologies.
The relay’s rapid turn-off capability stems from its built-in circuit, while the combination of a cutting-edge infrared emitter and a photovoltaic diode array ensures swift turn-on times. These attributes render the relay especially suitable for critical safety applications. Additionally, its streamlined SOP-4 format offers a space-saving alternative to the larger DIP-4 package.
Some of the key features of the solid-state relay include:
- AEC-Q102 qualified
- Load voltage 100 V
- Load current 100 mA
With an isolation voltage of 3750 VRMS, the Automotive Grade relay is engineered for reliable, disturbance-free operation in applications such as glass dimming, lighting control, inverters, motor controls, and battery management systems in both electric (EV) and hybrid electric (HEV) vehicles. It is also applicable in industrial motor drives and controls, security and automation systems, and telecom servers and data centers.
