These devices deliver exceptional efficiency, with the fastest recovery times, lowest junction capacitance, and optimal trade-off between recovery charge and forward voltage.
Vishay Intertechnology, Inc. has expanded its Gen 7 platform of 1200 V FRED Pt Hyperfast rectifiers with four new Automotive Grade devices in the compact eSMP series SMF (DO-219AB) package. These 1 A and 2 A rectifiers, optimized for industrial and automotive applications, offer an outstanding balance between reverse recovery charge (Qrr) and forward voltage drop, while boasting the lowest junction capacitance and fastest recovery times among similar devices.
The newly launched rectifiers include the VS-E7FX0112-M3 and VS-E7FX0212-M3, along with AEC-Q101 qualified models VS-E7FX0112HM3 and VS-E7FX0212HM3. Designed to enhance efficiency and reduce switching losses, these devices achieve recovery times as short as 45 ns, a typical Qrr of 105 nC, a forward voltage drop as low as 1.45 V, and junction capacitance down to 3.0 pF. The rectifiers are highly robust, with non-repetitive peak surge current ratings of up to 21 A. Their compact package measures 4.2 mm by 1.4 mm with a low profile of 1.08 mm and a minimum creepage distance of 2.2 mm.
The key features are:
- Ultra-fast recovery time with minimized reverse recovery charge (Qrr)
- Smooth, soft recovery characteristics.
- Maximum operating junction temperature of 175 °C.
- Designed for optimized performance in output rectification and snubber circuits.
These rectifiers are ideal for use as clamp, snubber, and freewheeling diodes in flyback auxiliary power supplies, high-frequency rectifiers for bootstrap drivers, and desaturation protection for fast-switching IGBTs and high-voltage Si/SiC MOSFETs. Typical applications include industrial drives and tools, electric vehicle (EV) on-board chargers and motors, energy generation and storage systems, and industrial LED SEPIC circuits.
Featuring a planar structure and platinum-doped lifetime control, these devices offer excellent reliability and robustness. Their optimized stored charge and low recovery current minimize switching losses, reducing overall power dissipation. They are RoHS-compliant, halogen-free, and meet Moisture Sensitivity Level 1 according to J-STD-020, making them suitable for high-temperature operation up to +175 °C. Samples and production quantities of the new Gen 7 rectifiers are available immediately, with an expected lead time of eight weeks.
