STS4xA from Sensirion is a series of digital automotive temperature sensor that comes in a DFN package. The series currently offers two versions: STS41A-AD1B and STS41A-AW1B. Both sensors feature an on-chip heater that enables the on-board diagnostics (OBD) and offers functionality and plausibility diagnosis instead of simple presence checks. In addition to that, the STS41A-AW1B model is capable of supplying optional wettable flank packaging to support automatic optical ins[ection (AOI).

The STS4xA series is based on the company’s CMOSens Technology, the cost-effective device features an I2C interface for communication and supplies a wide supply voltage range. the compact sensor can be readily integrated into automotive temperature sensing applications. It also meets industry standards, such as 85C/85% RH accelerated life tests. Both the sensors come in a compact package measuring just 1.5×1.5×0.5 mm and can detect a wide range of temperatures from -40 to 125 °C with a typical temperature accuracy of 0.3 °C.
