Littelfuse ITV4030 is a new series of 22 amp, three-terminal, surface-mountable Li-ion battery protectors. The compact devices are designed to protect battery packs against overcurrent and overvoltage conditions. To protect the battery from overcharging and getting hot, the company has employed an innovative technique of using embedded fuse and heater elements that provide fast response and reliable performance. It is ideal for a wide range of applications such as robotics, power tools, E-bike, etc.
These 4.0 x 3.0 mm devices protect battery packs against overcurrent and overcharging (overvoltage) conditions. The innovative design uses embedded fuse and heater elements that provide fast response and reliable performance to interrupt the charging or discharging circuit before the battery pack becomes overcharged or overheated.
According to the company, the ITV4030 comes in a small package of 4.0 x 3.0 mm. It offers a fast response time and low internal resistance, which helps increase the battery’s lifetime. Furthermore, the surface-mountable design simplifies the automated PC board assembly processes.

The company says that the working of the fuse relies on the temperature, an embedded 3-terminal fuse cuts off the circuit when overcurrent issues occur. A heater element in the fuse element generates enough thus blowing the fuse when the overcharging is detected. The product has a UL certification making it reliable and compliant with industry standards. The products are the environmentally friendly component that is halogen-free and RoHS compliant.
The ITV4030 is suitable for use in data communication interfaces for consumer electronics and can also be used in applications such as power tools, tablets, E-bike, etc. It is available for purchase.
