A lightweight and flexible radome and bumper tester that offers higher throughput and yield than other devices.
Rohde & Schwarz (R&S) and Löhnert Elektronik have jointly developed R&S QAR50-R, a fully automated turnkey solution for Radome and bumper testing based on the R&S QAR50. The T&M equipment offers high flexibility and is capable of accurately testing the automotive radomes and bumpers in the automotive radar frequency range at the end-of-line. The new model combines the imaging capabilities of the R&S QAR and R&S QAR50 that allow for reliable and precise testing of large areas of the bumper.
According to the company, the t&M equipment offers higher throughput and yield which is made possible due to the lightweight and compact setup of the R&S QAR50-R allowing for precise positioning of the measurement antennas. Previous measurement devices were bulkier which made it a challenge for them to measure complex and physically large parts in production. But the design of R&S QAR50-R allows for higher flexibility and allows it to reach positions that could hardly be handled with other available test systems.
The equipment is based on the R&S QAR and R&S QAR50 allows for reliable and precise testing of large areas of the bumper. Both instruments are optimized for measuring automotive radomes and smaller exterior vehicle components. The optionally available verification set allows radome and bumper suppliers to trace the results back to national and international standards. the R&S QAR50-R was designed with a focus on compactness and low weight in order to be compatible with standard 6-axis robots. Due to its design, the R&S QAR50-R reaches positions that could hardly be handled with other available test systems.
