The solution is built for use with the latest generation of Bluetooth Technology, thanks to full integration and RF matching
Offering a wide range of capabilities including the latest advanced Bluetooth technology in a tiny package is the ISP2053-AX RF module, a high-end device with a dual-core processor from Insight SiP. It is suitable for supporting sophisticated applications by removing the need for an additional host processor.
This ISP2053-AX offers the latest technology for advanced Bluetooth solutions thanks to the dual-core ARM processor, BLE 5.2 Long Range connectivity, BLE Audio support and advanced security features with ARM Trustzone. A temperature capability up to 105 degrees Celsius enables support for every kind of advanced Bluetooth based solution including Angle of Arrival and low latency/streaming solutions.
The device offers a fully integrated solution with RF matching and an integrated antenna. Both 32MHz and 32 kHz crystals and DC-DC support for each processor are included, meaning it is a fully functioning Bluetooth node only requiring a power supply to operate.
Based on the nRF5340 Nordic Semiconductor System on a Chip (SoC), the device’s architecture has a 2.4 GHz transceiver, a 64MHz M33 Network core with 256kB Flash and 64kB RAM, and a 128MHz M33 Application core with 1MB Flash and 512kB RAM. The two cores can be operated independently, offering multiple ways to optimise performance for power consumption, throughput and real-time response.
A full range of peripheral connections such as USB, QSPI, SPI, UART and others are available to both cores. Besides BLE, the module can run Zigbee, Thread and other 802.15.4 based protocols concurrently with BLE. Protocols stacks and applications run on the real-time Zephyr operating system, which provides a rich suite of drivers and services.
Feature for IoT Security
The ISP2053 comes with an ARM Trustzone capability, which allows secure key storage, advanced encryption and root of trust verification, enabling data on devices to be securely authenticated, updated and protected end to end.
“The new ISP2053 represents the state of the art Bluetooth technology. A miniature footprint and full integration make this RF module “ready to go” for customers. With its sophisticated capabilities, it can replace multiple components of an older generation system. Advances in security and processing power mean it is adapted for the next generation of Bluetooth applications,” said Nick Wood, Sales and Marketing Director of Insight SiP
Designed to run on a coin cell battery, the ISP2053 RF module consumes ultra-low power and is equipped with an advanced power management system for operation up to several years.
Measuring just 8mm x 8mm x 1mm, the initial samples of the ISP2053 RF module are available now. Full production will start in 2022 after final certification. To help rapid product development, development kits along with sample software will also be offered.
