The new diode series is suitable for use in critical applications such as data centre, telecom, power supply, etc. where protection against inductive kicks and lightning strikes are crucial. The SMTOAK2 TVS Diode Series is ideal for high-power-density applications that require robust protection in a small footprint. The TVS diode series enables designers to achieve robust circuit protection with less PCB space via a modified, compact SMTO-263 surface-mount package that is 50% smaller than SMTO-218 surface-mounted solutions. The SMTOAK2 can be used in a variety of applications including ICT, Medical, Industrial DC power supplies, etc.
Lightning strikes, transient surges and inductive kicks can cause serious damage to electronic equipment. To protect this equipment from these conditions a high surge-rated TVS diode is employed in the design. The company claims that the compact, 2 kA 8/20 μs rated, surface-mount package SMTOAK2 TVS Diode Series allows electronics designers to achieve a more robust transient voltage, overvoltage protection, and lightning protection system while using less printed circuit board (PCB) space.
