C&K has introduced a new ultra-low current detect switch to its detect product family. The SDS ultra-low current (ULC) series comes in multiple contact arrangements suitable for different use cases. These switches have a Single pole single throw (SPST) design and are tested for over 50,000 cycles, 75gf actuation force, and right angle termination. The SDS ULC have models with silver and gold plated tips for better resistance to corrosion. The switches are suitable for a wide variety of applications such as IoT, medical, networking, smart metering, etc.
With the adoption of IoT, automation and wireless and portable battery-powered devices, designers require solutions that consume minimal energy to prolong battery life. The SDS ULC (Ultra-low Current) detect switch series is designed to limit power consumption on battery-powered devices. These switches have a contact rating of 100mA at 12 VDC and offer a mechanical and electrical life of 50,000 clicks. Combining low current (10µA) with an ultra low-profile (2 mm mounted). The SDS ULC switch is suitable for operation in temperature from –40ºC to +85ºC. The SDS ULC detect switch is ideal for a wide range of handheld and space-constrained applications including consumer, IoT, medical, etc.
“With the growing production of devices using battery power, we have developed an ultra-low current switch to meet market needs” explained Cedric Garropin, Product Manager at C&K. “By reducing current to operate this switch, battery consumption triggered by an actuation is heavily reduced compared to other switches. The SDS ULC detect switch has been tested and proven to reduce battery consumption in medical and IoT devices.”
