Nichicon, a company in energy storage, and Epishine, a company in printed organic solar cells, have announced the launch of the SCB-EpNi-2500-000400, a self-charging battery solution. This power module combines Nichicon’s LTO batteries with Epishine’s organic solar cells, designed for indoor light, to provide a plug-and-play, energy-autonomous solution for IoT devices and other low-power electronics.
The self-charging battery solution suits various users, particularly in industries focused on low-power electronics and IoT devices. Developers and manufacturers of IoT products, wearables, smart home devices, sensors, and other small electronic devices can benefit from this plug-and-play, energy-autonomous solution. It is beneficial for organizations looking to enhance the sustainability of their products by incorporating light energy harvesting and energy storage seamlessly and cost-effectively.
The partnership between the companies has produced a power module that combines technology with simplicity. It uses Nichicon’s LTO batteries, known for their fast charging, high power discharge, and long lifespan, along with Epishine’s flexible solar cells, designed to capture indoor light. This solution provides a sustainable energy source for small, low-power electronics. The SCB-EpNi is a plug-and-play solution with a solder-free assembly that connects directly to the PCB, making integration easier and allowing developers to focus on innovation.
The SCB-EpNi is designed to reduce development cycles, minimize setup time, and speed up time-to-market for new devices. It supports large-scale manufacturing and efficient deployment, ensuring cost savings and scalability for partners and customers.
“Launching this product with Nichicon is a big step forward for the future of energy and technology. By integrating light energy harvesting with energy storage, we are introducing an even smarter way to power electronics while contributing to a more sustainable future”, said Hassan Abdalla, Chief Product Officer at Epishine.
