With flexible input options, dual configurable outputs, and advanced protection features, these modules ensure optimal performance for a range of semiconductor technologies, including IGBTs, SiC MOSFETs, and GaN HEMTs.

RECOM has introduced a new line of compact DC/DC isolated power modules designed to deliver precise, stable voltages for high performance gate drive applications. These modules are engineered to maximize efficiency and reliability, essential for gate drivers in various power systems. Encased in a miniature 36pin SSOP SMD package, these modules provide a powerful solution in a remarkably small form factor.

The key specifications include:

  •  Input range: 8.5V to 27VDC, suitable for 12V, 15V, and 24VDC
  •  Power rating: up to 2.5W
  •  Compact size: 12.83 x 7.5 x 3.55 mm
  •  Operating temperature: 40°C to 100°C

This new series supports input ranges from 8.5V to 27VDC, catering to 12V, 15V, and 24VDC nominal inputs. Power ratings reach up to 2.5W, varying performance based on the selected model and operating temperature. The modules feature dual, fully regulated outputs that can be configured as asymmetric positive and negative voltages or as single positive or negative values, making them adaptable for a wide range of gate drive requirements. They are compatible with IGBTs, Si and SiC MOSFETs, and GaN HEMT cells. For instance, the R12C2T25/R model operates with a 918VDC input, programmable to +18V/5V for use with SiC MOSFETs. Each unit boasts an isolation rating of 5kVAC for one minute (reinforced) and a working voltage of 1.4kVDC, along with low isolation capacitance under 3.5pF and high dV/dt immunity up to 150 kV/μs.

Built-in protection and control features enhance reliability, including under and overvoltage lockout, overtemperature protection, and output overload handling. A shutdown control pin and a “power good” indicator ensure outputs stay within safe tolerance levels before applying the gate drive. The series includes a three-year warranty, with samples and OEM pricing.

“These modules meet all essential criteria for robust and efficient gate drive bias voltage generation across various switch technologies,” said Matthew Dauterive, MSc, Product Manager at RECOM. For more information, click here.
