The telematics hub offers efficient management for fleets and vehicles, featuring connectivity and essential security in a compact design.
iWave has released a Telematics Connect Hub designed for fleet management and telematics in electric vehicles (EVs), racing motorbikes, and industrial and off-road machinery. The press release says that an Arm Cortex-A7 Microprocessor powers the hub and features 2 Controller Area Network Flexible Data-Rate (CAN-FD) Ports, a Global Navigation Satellite System (GNSS), an Accelerometer and Gyroscope, and an integrated Hardware Secure Element.
The hub also includes Long-Term Evolution Category 1 Bis (LTE Cat-1 Bis.) and Bluetooth for wireless connectivity, enabling efficient communication between vehicles and networks. Built-in a rugged enclosure with Ingress Protection 67 (IP67) class protects against shock, vibration, dust, and water. The integrated Hardware Secure Element in the hub is essential for security in connected vehicles and networking applications, supporting Secure Firmware Updates, Controller Area Network (CAN) Message Authentication, High-Bandwidth Digital Content Protection (HDCP) Cryptographic Support, and EV Battery Authentication for automotive systems.
The telematics connect hub in electric vehicles is designed to provide insights into driver and vehicle performance, including information on battery health, charging schedules, electric vehicle station analytics, routing, and dispatch processes. For motorcycles, off-highway vehicles, and industrial machinery, the hub supports fleet management, navigation analysis, and vehicle diagnostics applications.
This hub supports a Linux Board Support Package (BSP) with Application Programming Interfaces (APIs) for all its peripherals, offering customers the flexibility and clarity necessary to develop their own software and analytics applications. Customers can implement their data logging, edge computing logic, analytics, and telemetry layers, integrate with their chosen cloud platform, and manage device and Over-The-Air (OTA) software updates.
“The cost-optimized Telematics Connect hub is built to power telematics applications in electric vehicles, two-wheelers, passenger cars and off-highway vehicles with the required security”, said Tawfeeq Ahmed, Associate Director – Marketing at iWave. “Featuring CAN-FD ports, inertial sensors, LTE and Bluetooth connectivity elements, the hub helps customers make better decisions on their fleet and actionable insights through data.”
