Two innovative DC-DC converters with a 12:1 ultra-wide input range have been developed by XP Power, Singapore addressing diverse applications in industries like renewable energy, battery systems, and railways. The RDF150 and RDF200 series, rated at 150W and 200W respectively, allow operation from a broad 14V-160V DC input range, accommodating fluctuating or multiple power sources. These converters are designed to simplify power solutions in railway systems, which often face challenges due to global variations in operating voltages. “The 12:1 ultra-wide input range eliminates this challenge,” assuring compatibility across regions without altering power designs. Fully compliant with EN50155 and EN50121-3-2 railway standards, the modules provide reliable performance tailored for demanding applications.

The target audience for these converters includes engineers and designers working in renewable energy sectors, battery systems, and railway infrastructure, who need a flexible, reliable power solution that can adapt to various input conditions and stringent industry standards. The versatility and compliance with international standards make the RDF series ideal for these industries.

Encased in a compact half-brick package of 61.0mm x 57.9mm x 12.7mm, the RDF series prioritises space-saving in applications where physical constraints are critical. The integrated baseplate offers flexible cooling options, enhancing thermal management and ensuring long-term reliability.

Output options include single 5V, 12V, 15V, 24V, and 48V configurations, catering to varying load requirements. Notably, the design includes remote sensing for distant loads and a voltage trim feature that exceeds typical market options at -20% to +15%. These attributes make the converters adaptable to different operational scenarios.

Efficiency ratings reach up to 91%, minimising energy loss, while a standby consumption of only 15mA supports energy-efficient systems. Remote on/off functionality adds to operational convenience. The devices are also certified under UL62368-1 for industrial applications, reinforcing their suitability for rugged environments.

Operating temperatures range from -40°C to +100°C, and built-in safeguards such as overvoltage, overload, and short-circuit protection ensure durability in harsh conditions. These features make the RDF series an attractive choice for modern industrial applications requiring resilience and reliability.

The RDF150 and RDF200 modules represent a significant step forward in versatile power solutions for a global market, setting new standards in adaptability and efficiency.
