Anritsu introduces an upgrade for its wireless connectivity test set, enabling precise evaluation of Wi-Fi 7 2×2 MIMO characteristics in real-world conditions.
Anritsu Corporation has introduced a new option for its wireless connectivity test set ‘MT8862A’, designed to measure the transmit and receive performance of Wi-Fi 7 2×2 MIMO devices. This enhancement, aligned with the IEEE 802.11be standard, facilitates evaluation of receive sensitivity and transmit power in real-world settings through its Network Mode feature, ensuring superior testing accuracy for WLAN-equipped devices.
Although the finalised Wi-Fi 7 standard is expected in 2024, many manufacturers are already developing devices using its draft specifications. Applications such as augmented reality (AR), virtual reality (VR), and ultra-high-definition video demand rapid data transmission. The multiple-input multiple-output (MIMO) technology is pivotal for meeting these needs but poses challenges in testing due to its complexity. By enhancing the test set, the company simplifies the evaluation process for devices equipped with Wi-Fi 7 2×2 MIMO, which relies on dual antennas for both transmission and reception.
This advanced tool targets device manufacturers, network engineers, and testing professionals involved in developing and validating Wi-Fi 7 technologies. Its ability to evaluate RF performance under real-world conditions makes it indispensable for industries relying on wireless solutions for seamless communication and high-speed data handling. The set enhancement supports testing across three frequency bands—2.4GHz, 5GHz, and 6GHz—alongside 320MHz channel bandwidth and 4096 QAM modulation.
“Network Mode enables real-world operational testing, offering a practical and accurate approach to evaluating RF characteristics,” stated the company spokesperson. This ensures reliable performance metrics for devices in their intended operating environments. Ease of use is another highlight. The test set requires no complex configuration, allowing personnel without specialised training to perform measurements. Once connected, testing begins seamlessly, minimising setup time and effort.
As Wi-Fi 7 gains prominence, the company’s upgraded test set positions itself as a vital tool for optimising next-generation connectivity solutions. By simplifying the testing process, it contributes to improved communication quality and supports the advancement of wireless technologies in diverse applications.
