Amorepacific in collaboration with the Ulsan National Institute of Science and Technology (UNIST) has developed an intelligent tactile sensor that can measure skin sensations by combining machine learning with measurement technology.

By withstanding external pressure and staying intact, the ultra-thin flexible sensor can recognise and measure the temperature, moisture levels and the type of solution used on the skin surface.

Thanks to the efforts of Professor Ko Hyun-Hyub and his team at UNIST, the use of cutting-edge technology that mimicked human skin made the advancement possible.

The new sensor will enable the development of finetuned cosmetics and skin products, a sector in which Amorepacific is well known.

“Now, we are able to provide verified and reliable results by comparing the cool and warm sensations of cosmetics for evaluation. We will continue to further secure data using advanced technology and bring about innovations through research,” said Park Young-Ho, Head of R&I Center at Amorepacific.
